"Yeah, he's gonna ask you out,"replied Kristy, Chloe's best friend. "I heard it directly from Zach who heard it from Travis who heard it from Trevor who heard it from Josh himself."
"What are you going to say?" inquiered Katie, Chloe's other friend.
"I don't know," replied Chloe, who was feeling kind of uncomfortable with all of the questioning. The truth was, Chloe actually liked Josh, but all of her friends thought he was a jerk who used girls.
"Say no. You know he's just gonna dump you. He just uses girls. Remember how he's liked 6 girls already this year, and the second quarter just began," stated Kristy. Chloe knew that this was true, even though she still liked him. How could this be? wondered Chloe. I like him even though I know he's just gonna dump me for some other girl.
"No, say yes and then dump him really quickly. He deserves it," snorted Katie, with a flip of her hair. It wasn't that Katie and Kristy were trying to be mean, they just didn't want her to get hurt.
"I still don't know, I just..." Chloe never got to finish her sentence because then Josh came along with Zach, Trevor, and Travis. She blushed and then resumed to getting her math notebook out of her locker.
Then lunch came, the time when Katie predicted Josh would ask her out. Kristy and Katie didn't want to eat outside, which is where Chloe wanted to eat with her other friends Natalie, Elissa, and Rachel. But Josh and his crew eventually found her there, and tried to ask her out there.
Josh was to embarrassed to ask her if he liked her, so he asked Travis to do it. She told him that she liked him, but she didn't know if he was just using her and that the was scared that he would dump her for another girl. Travis ran off to Josh to deliver the message. He returned saying that Josh said that he really liked Chloe, more than anybody else.
When Josh and Chloe finally caught up with each other, Travis, Trevor, Zach, Elissa, Natalie, and Rachel ran behind a tree, trying to give them some privacy while really evesdropping. Finally Josh said "Wanna go out?"
Chloe said "Yes," and they hugged. "I'll see you around. I have to go now," said Chloe as she ran down into the school to tell Katie and Kristy.
"Guess what,"she said. "Josh is now my boyfriend!"
"Really?!?!?!" they said in unison. "O-M-G. How'd that happen?!?!" Chloe proceeded to tell them everything. "I told him that I liked him, but that I didn't know if he was just using me. He told me that he honestly and truly liked me, and I think he really meant it. I know it sounds wierd, but I like him, and he likes me," said Chloe. It was about time the told her friends the truth of how she felt about Josh.
"Well, if that's they way you feel, then we respect that. I have to go to history now, I'll see you soon," said Katie, as she and Kristy walked off.
During science, Chloe couldn't stop thinking about how lucky she was. With a boyfriend who cared about her and friends who understood her feelings, she thought she was the most fortunate person in the world.
